Very Fine Elegant Japanese Millefleur Cloisonne Enamel Vase Hayashi. Unsigned, but highly probable, and attributed to Hayashi Kodenji of Nagoya.
Spectacular antique Meiji cloisonne vase. High-shouldered hexagonally faceted body with masterfully sculpted silver wire of varying thickness with a profusion of colorful strands of flowers encircling entire vase on high gloss black ground. This vase exhibits extremely high standard of fine Japanese hand craftsmanship. The cloison detail work in silver wire was certainly performed by a master of Japanese cloisonne. Style and quality point to Hayashi.
This antique vase is in excellent original condition. There is a small chip and short hairlines in the black enamel just above the foot of very little significance. Digital photo accentuates, but otherwise no cracks, repairs, or dents. Some normal wear to base and top rim. Approximate size is 5 tall.
Please see photos as an integral part of this description. Sometimes the camera catches what I don't.From my own personal collection, this fine vase would be an excellent addition to your own cloisonne collection. Please check my other auctions. I pack very promptly and securely.
