Unusual Japanese Cloisonne Translucent Red Enamel Vase by Iida PIB

  

Here is small but charming Japanese enamel cloisonné vase worked in a technique known as "tomei shippo" which means translucent enamel. This translucent enamel (tomei shippo) vase is very refined and the body is worked with a deep ruby red enamel and decorated with a single rose design. The vase is finished in a very high polish.

The vase is in mint, pristine vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restoration. The paper label identifying Iida as the workshop is applied on the center of the base. This exact vase is pictured on page 76, in Chapter 11, "Tomei-jippo; Translucent and Monochrome Cloisonne Enamel, " in the reference book entitled, "Japanese Cloisonne Enamels; A Private Collector's Notes and Reference Guide, " by Gary Yoshino. The height of this small vase is approximately 4.75 inches. The width of the small vase is approximately 2.75 inches.
