This particular vase is fitted with silver rims, which is indicative of a custom order or presentation piece. As silver was a very costly material, the rims tend to be thin and there is one tiny ding to the mouth rim, but it is purely cosmetic in nature, without any effect to the enamel. This exact vase is pictured on page 59, in Chapter 8, "Musen-Jippo, Without wire, wireless enamel and E-Gaki-Jippo painted enamel, " in Gary Yoshino's book entitled, Japanese Cloisonne Enamels; A Private Collector's Notes and Reference Guide. Overall, a very refined and high quality cloisonné vase that is in near mint condition marked by the Ando workshop.
The height of this vase is approximately 9.5 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 5.0 inches. As Japanese cloisonné enamel is very fragile, we will double box and pack this item with tremendous care. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Vases".
