The background is worked with a finely incised ground known as "nanako" or fish roe with bamboo stalks incised into the ground. The vase is in pristine vintage condition without any major chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration. The center of the base is lightly applied with the workshop name of Craftsman and 10 302.
The numbers "10 302" have been seen on other translucent green vases, so we believe that these numbers represent the style number of the vases. This exact vase is pictured on page 150 in Chapter 16, "Yusen-Jippo; Standard wire cloisonne enamel" in the reference book, "Japanese Cloisonne Enamels - A Private Collector's Notes and Reference Guide" by Gary Yoshino. The height of this vase is approximately 7.25 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 3.75 inches. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Vases".
