Stunning Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase of Autumn Leaves by Ando
Here is a truly charming Japanese classic yusen shippo (with standard wire) enamel cloisonné vase of fall leaves changing colors by the Ando workshop. The vase is worked with groups of beautiful leaves worked in various warm enamel colors. The wonderful design is bold yet it provides a simple and peaceful expression. The background is worked with a yellow enamel in high glossy polish and is in excellent vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restorations with the exception of a tiny, very tiny pin-point fault referred by collectors as a fish eye. This tiny defect is very hard to capture, as it is on a white colored enamel, in the very center of last image (#10). Ando confidently used the yellow enamel ground for this work, which is probably one of the most difficult background enamel for an artist to incorporate due to the unforgiving nature and revealing characteristics of the color. The height of this vase is approximately 5.0 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 4.25 inches. Overall, a very attractive vase in overall pristine condition (with the exception of the small "fish eye"), with a very strong sense of naturalism and design.
