Here is a very unusual Japanese cloisonne enamel vase with a series of cloisons (wire bordered cells) shaped in the form of dynamic swirls that are worked with wireless or musen enamels. The design is intriguing as the repeating shapes are enameled in light red, fading to a light pink and transforming into a light blue enamel.
Some of the smaller comma shaped designs are worked entirely in the light red, pink or blue enamels. An identical piece was seen in Japan but the cost was too prohibitive. I have not seen similar example since. The height of this elegantly shaped vase is approximately 7.0 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 3.75 inches.Overall, an exceptional vase in excellent condition without any condition issues such as chips, crazing, cracking, loses or restoration. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this vase is how the artist confidently utilized the white enamel ground, which most workshops kept away from as it reveals the smallest imperfections during the firing process.
Truly a beautiful piece for the advanced collector. This vase will be double boxed and packed with tremendous care. The item "Stunning Experimental Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase" is in sale since Saturday, July 10, 2021. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Vases".
