Here is beautiful Japanese cloisonne vase by the innovative workshop of Ota Hiroaki. This vase incorporates a wonderful blue and black speckled ground that is decorated with a butterfly and orchid flower blossom. The portions of the butterflys wings are rendered transparent, making the bold and colorful orchid blossom the focal point of the vase. The vase is in very good vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, crazing, hairlines or restoration. The only notable item are very light surface scratches on the back of the vas which could not be photographed.
Representing the artists name Hiroaki. Specialists generally agree that less than 7.0% of all Japanese cloisonne enamels are signed or marked by their artist or workshops. The height of the vase is approximately 8.5 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 3.75 inches.
A similar vase is pictured on page 141 in Chapter 16, Yusen-Jippo, standard wire cloisonne enamel, in the reference book entitled, Japanese Cloisonne Enamels - A Private Collectors Notes and Reference Guide by Gary Yoshino.
