Meiji Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Enamel Belt - Hayashi Kodenji - Excellent. A very RARE beautiful antique Meiji cloisonne ginbari belt with box marked with that of Hayashi Kodenji. Box fits belt well, so believe original Hayashi box matches this belt. Wonderful, beautifully colored ginbari on silver foil.
12 panels, plus two part buckle. All different designs - egrets, birds and flowers. This belt exhibits very high standard of fine Japanese hand craftsmanship.
I estimate from the early Meiji Period. A master artist of Japanese cloisonne of ginbari-jippo. This antique belt is in excellent original condition. Silver plate on panels worn and some minor discoloration on backside of couple panels. Top sides look very clean for very old ginbari.
Maybe a little discoloration on a couple, but very minor. No hairline issues like most examples of ginbari belts I have owned or seen.
Please review pictures for best depiction. Approximate size is 25" long, each panel 1 5/8" by 1 1/4. Two piece buckle approximately 2 1/4" tall, by 2 1/2" wide. Please see photos as an integral part of this description. Sometimes the camera catches what I don't.
From my own personal collection, this fine ginbari belt would be an excellent addition to your own cloisonne collection. Please check my other auctions. I pack very promptly and securely.
