Large Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase with Stylized Rose by Ando PIB

  

Here is an impressive Japanese classic yusen shippo (with standard wire) enamel cloisonné vase of a stylized rose by the prestigious Ando workshop. The vase is decorated with a single stylized flower primarily worked in white enamel with touches of various shades of bright yellow enamel. The body is worked with minimal wire to outline the design, almost blending into the deep green ground.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this vase is how the artist outlined with wires the leaves and flower while utilizing limited wireless (musen) enamels for a very striking and minimalistic design. The end result is a wonderful design is bold and stylized and provides a simple and striking expression. The vase is finished in a high glossy polish and is in excellent vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restorations. This exact vase is pictured on page 135 in Chapter 16, entitled, "Yusen-Jippo; Standard wire cloisonne enamel, " in the reference book, "Japanese Cloisonne Enamels; A Private Collector's Notes and Reference Guide, " by Gary Yoshino. The height of this vase is approximately 9.5 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 4.5 inches. The vase will be double boxed and packed with tremendous care.
