Here is an impressive Japanese classic yusen shippo (with standard wire) cloisonné enamel vase of a two magnolia blossoms by the prestigious Ando workshop. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this vase is how the Ando workshop confidently chose the light cream or yellow background enamel that is known to reveal the slightest imperfections. The end result is a dynamic design that is both bold and striking. The vase is finished in a high glossy polish and is in excellent antique condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restorations. The bottom rim is stamped SILVER.

Advanced collectors will recognize that many works that are fitted with silver rims are consistently of the highest quality that may indicate a custom (commissioned) order or presentation piece. The height of this vase is approximately 9.75 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 5.5 inches.

Overall, a very attractive vase in pristine condition with a very strong sense of design. This exact vase is illustrated and described on page 134 in Chapter 16, Yusen-Jippo; Standard wire cloisonne enamel, in the reference book Japanese Cloisonne Enamel; A Private Collectors Notes and Reference Guide, by Gary Yoshino. Specialists generally agree that less than 7. % of all Japanese cloisonne enamel works are marked or signed by their artist workshops. The vase will be double boxed and packed with tremendous care.
