DSC Fine and Decorative Art. Japanese Silver Wire Mandarin Duck Cloisonné Vase Hayakawa Komejiro. Using silver wires and sparkling red ground'ginbari', the vase depicts two mandarin ducks near a swirling stream.
The male is perched on a mossy rock, whilst the female is swimming alongside. The background is of reeds and water iris'. The wirework on the male duck as particularly intricate, as is the elaborate floral border around the neck of the vase. The mark is likely a variation of the more typical 3 character mark, use by the studio of Hayakawa Komejiro. The condition of the vase is very good, with only a small flaw to the background enamel by the top iris. There are also a few stress cracks around the base on the back of the vase.
