A fine and unusual Meiji period Japanese cloisonne covered vase or urn. The top has a patinated metal bird finial. The piece itself, and the lid, are decorated with florals, leaves, and a flying goose. The lid is decorated with three flying bats. The base rests on three-lobed short feet with stippled decoration.
The base and inside of the lid are enameled in a vibrant turquoise blue. The piece is in very good condition. The lid has a minor fissure in the enamel at the edge. Dimensions: Height: 7 3/4", Diameter: 4 1/2".
