This is a wired cloisonné vase made in Japan in the late part of Meiji period (1868 - 1912). It shows exquisite Japanese craftsmanship in Meiji period. The quality of work is amazing. It is in excellent condition.
No flaws or damages to be noted. It is decorated with phenixe. S and dragons in the 4 windows around the body. All the rest areas are filled with various flowers, arabesque, and geometric patters.
The color tone is very calm. No chips, cracks or dings on the cloisonné enamels. It is very rare that a cloisonné vase made more than 100 years ago could be kept in such excellent condition.
Ign of aging can be seen at the top and. Consistent with the age of this vase. The box is newly made to fit and protect the vase (photo #12). It is made of paulownia.Paulownia box is best to protect valuable items for long time. Size: Height: 18.7 cm / 7.4 in. Weight: 403 g / 14.2 oz.
