The vase is nearly covered with a highly detailed design of a white chrysanthemum plant that been staked and is in full bloom. The background is a lovely powder blue.
There is a pale gray border on the neck and around the foot. The back shows a butterfly in flight.
The enamels are smooth and shiny- nearly glass-like. The level of detail is absolutely stunning. The foot and mouth are a dark metal with a bronze patina and no enameling. There is no enameling on the base. The vase has some weight and rests flat. 3 ¾ (9.5 cm) tall x 3 ½ (8.9 cm) diameter. Weighs 5.9 oz (165 g). There are two concussion marks on the back. They havent lost the enamel but show a pale coloring. There are crazing lines on the gray neck enameling. There are wear scratches and tiny pin holes from manufacture. The vase looks perfect and bright. An exacting work of art that is delicate with a decided Japanese artistic sense. Unbelievably delicate workmanship not to be repeated.
