This vase was acquired many years ago for research and documentation purposes for my reference book. It took several months to find an example that clearly showed the cut-out silver foil floral design that was applied to the foundation and finished with a clear enamel. The vase has the characteristic quality of the underlying design raising the enamel layer ever so slightly. This raised enamel can be readily felt when gently running your hand over the surface of the vase. The background is finished in a high polish, dark blue enamel in pristine, mint condition without any major faults such as cracks, crazing, hairlines or restoration. This exact piece isillustrated on page 39, in Chapter 6, entitled, Imbedded Cloisonne Enamel which explores various examples that incorporate design elements that has been added on top of the foundation. In many cases, the added layer has created a raised effect, serving as the focal point of the work. The height of this vase is approximately 8.0 inches. The width this vase is approximately 6.0 inches.
