This vase appeared in my latest box, which actually took me by total surprise as I had hoped that it would not appear for quite some time as I consider this vase a masterpiece by Ota Hiroaki. This vase incorporates a wonderful light blue and white blended enamel ground that is decorated with a stylized sakura (cherry) tree branch and blossoms. The artist has created a window into the vase that depicts the sakura tree and blossoms enduring in a snow storm despite the harsh environment. The vase is in pristine vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, crazing, hairlines or restoration.
Representing the artists name Hiroaki. This exact vase is pictured and described on page 141 in Chapter 16, Yusen-Jippo, standard wire cloisonne enamel, in the reference book entitled Japanese Cloisonne Enamels - A Private Collectors Notes and Reference Guide by Gary Yoshino. The height of the vase is approximately 9.5 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 4.0 inches. Due to the fragile nature of Japanese cloisonné enamels, this item will be double boxed and packed with tremendous care. I certalnly hope that this vase brings you many years of peace and happiness as it has provided for me. Thank you and wishing you a happy and healthy New Year.
