Here is a classic Japanese cloisonne enamel vase in the traditional yusen shippo (standard wire) by one of the top Japanese artist workshops. The attention to detail to this vase is what we would expect from this top tier workshop. The vase is worked with a variety of brightly enameled flowers on a solid dark blue or navy blue, highly polished ground. While the body of the vase is in pristine condition without any major chips, cracks, hairlines or restoration, the top rim did get bumped and this resulted in small chips to the enamel area directly under the rim. One of the distinct characteristics of the Hayashi Kihyoe workshop are their very delicate and thin rims.
For this particular vase, the top rim did not fully cover the side areas of the mouth of the vase, where there is a very small area that you can see where the mouth was ground and fitted with the top rim mountings. This area is cosmetic and would most likely be not mentioned by other sellers and dealers. I definitely did not see the small area along right under the top rim as I paid an hefty amount fo acquire this piece! The height of this vase is approximately 7.25 inches.
The width of the vase is approximately 3.75 inches. The item "Fine Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase by the Highly Respected Hayashi Kihyoe" is in sale since Saturday, September 26, 2020. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Vases".
