Extremely Rare Pair of Signed Mounted Japanese Cloisonne Edo Vases done by World Renown French Metal Worker Ferdinand Barbedienne, the mounts features a three-footed base shaped into elephant heads and signed F. Barbedienne The vessels are decorated with Flowers and Floral elements. Was made in Japan's Edo Period (1603 and 1867). Listing is for the pair of mounted Vases (you get both). Barbedienne's atelier created sculptures, clocks and bronze mounts of the highest quality and his works were shown at numerous international exhibitions of the period, where he won multiple awards. Among these was the noteworthy Grande Médaille d'Honneur, which Barbedienne won in Paris in 1855. Signed three-footed Mounts shaped into elephant heads, by none other than the World Renown French Metal Worker, Ferdinand Barbedienne, the mounts are signed F.

Short ovoid body with a long neck and wide flared rim. Brightly enameled with various geometric and diaper designs with panels and roundels of flora.

The pieces are very old and in fair condition; There is a normal wear including scratches, pitting, oxidation, and patina given it's age along with. Some enamel loss, dents, flaking, and some chips. Locations throughout the piece, and the base is kind of lose, all of which is very common with pieces from this period. The pieces also have heavy patina to it's underside and patina to mounts given it's age and there is bends to the bases or elsewhere all of which is also common for the period.

Despite all this, these are wonderful Statement pieces and display well. Vase with mount Height: 14 inches / 35.56 cm.
