This an absolutely wonderful Enamel Vase, a great Oriental Chinoiserie Vessel to say the least. Listing is for the Single Vase ONLY. Due to Composition this is attributed to Cloisonné Master artist Namikawa Sosuke. Furthermore the intricate Geometric work around the neck, shoulder and base these highlights Namikawa Sosuke's work.
Elegantly enameled flowers including Chrysanthemums, Peonies, along with Perches Pigeons, Song Birds in flight. Vessels contain Footed base with geometric upper border and lower borders. Height: 104.14 cm (41 inches).
Diameter: 13 inches (33.02 cm) at it's widest point. More information on Namikawa Sosuke. Sosuke originally worked with the Nagoya Cloisonné Company (Shippo Kaisha) but in 1880 moved to run the company branch in Tokyo. In 1883 he took over the company and continued to innovate and promote his company's enamel wares.
He was appointed Imperial Craftsman (Teishitsu Gigei-in) in 1896. The item is in Fair condition for age, has normal and typical signs of wear from age, some wear and patina and oxidation is present especially around the base and bottom plate that attaches to the base is lose.
There is minor enamel loses and random flaking flaking, and random spiderwebbed areas. Again, despite its imperfections, this an Absolutely Wonderful Piece that presents well and is an excellent statement piece.I also have Blue and White vases, other Larger vases and jars, Ginger Jars, and Cloisonné vases, check my other listings. I have supplied additional photos below.
