Antique Meiji Japanese Black Fine Cloisonne Chrysanthemums. The polychrome array of enamel colors used are exceptionally beautiful and well kept after all these years. Against a black enamel background, the decor consists of chrysanthemums green and bluish cyan colored leaves ledged in front of geometrical yellow and brown background fence with yellow hues bloomed flowers accentuated with reddish centers climbing up to the upper part and to the neck portion. White bloomed yellow centers daisy flowers mid and lower portion at the other side completes the picture perfect of a desirable natural garden.
The foliate neck collar with graceful lobed lower portion consist of brown ground with specks of gold with a bronzed rim. The bottom has repeated half circular interlocked decor in silver gray color thin border. The bottom is enameled pinkish with bronzed rim. All of these decor attributes to the fine craftsmanship of the Kodenji. Measures: 7 1/2 tall, approximately 4 1/4" widest width, rim 2 1/4 , base/bottom 2 ".Great condition for age, there are superficial scratches, and mild pitting as expected for age. The bronze inner rim has small superficial abrasions, some superficial linear scratches , no fractures. Superficial mild scratches at the black part difficult to photograph. There is one superficial deeper scratch at the mid section 5-6mm x 1-2 mm exposing a very minute part of the inner shell, please check the photo no.
All in all this piece is a great beautiful antique survivor for ages. Authentic antiquity changes are real and gives its great character. Please check photos for further description.
