Antique Meiji Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Wireless Vase with Snow and Mountain Sce

  

An antique Japanese brass vase from the early Meiji period, decorated with enamel using the cloisonne technique. The vase is of a globular form tapering to the bottom, the exterior is decorated with cloisonne enamel flowers and goldstone enamel accents on a black ground, medallions on both sides are hand painted with traditional Japanese landscape scenes, one side depicts a winter landscape, and the other side shows a mountainous landscape. Meiji era, 1868 to 1912, reign of Emperor Mutsuhito.
