Antique Japanese Cloisonne Ginbari Foil Phoenix Vase 8 Meiji Period

  

Antique Japanese Cloisonne Ginbari Foil Vase Meiji Period. Beautifully detailed with two large ginbari panels on either side of the vase.

One panel has butterflies with a green foil ground. The other panel has a phoenix bird with an unusual purple foil ground. Running around the center of the vase, between panels, is a gold foil floral border with floral lappets. The top of the vase has a vibrant blue foil border decorated with Japanese Mon. The center of the vase has a dark green enamel ground with more Japanese Mon decorating and filling in the space around the panels.

Ginbari lappets create the bottom border and run along the top border. The lappets alternate between the same unusual purple foil used in the phoenix panel and a bright blue turquoise foil. The vase was previously converted into a lamp.

There is both a hole drilled in the base and on the side. Otherwise vase is in amazing condition. Vase measures approx 8 tall.
