HERES AN EXCEPTIONAL ORIGINAL LATE MEIJI-ERA OR POSSIBLY TAISHO-ERA SIGNED JAPANESE GINBARI (GIN-BARI / GINBARI-JIPPO) CLOISONNE (SHIPPO-YAKI) 6-SIDED ENAMEL-ON-COPPER VASE CREATED BY OTA TOSHIRO THAT DISPLAYS A MAGNIFICENT 360-DEGREE UNDERWATER SCENE OF REDDISH-ORANGE ORLANDA AND ONE CHOCOLATE ORLANDA GOLDFISH SET AGAINST A DARK-GREEN TO PINKISH ENAMELED BACKGROUND OVER A SHEET OF SILVER FOIL MADE UP OF SEA PLANTS AND A MYRIAD OF SMALL DOTS! Measuring approximately eight and one half inches (8 1/2) in height by two and one half inches (2 1/2) in diameter across the top, this exceptional late nineteenth or early twentieth century Japanese ginbari foil-cloisonné-enamel-on-copper vase is signed (see photos above) on the underside bottom with the stamped seal / mark purportedly for Ota Toshiro. Please Note: The base metal for this ginbari vase is copper, the foil sheet that wraps the entire exterior is silver, and the top and base rims are made from brass. The Orlanda goldfish were completed as wireless cloisonné (Musen shipp). Condition: PLEASE PAY ATTENTION From outward appearances, this rare Orlanda goldfish ginbari enamel vase is absolutely beautiful! And overall, the vase is in very decent condition. HOWEVER, AND PLEASE READ Just underneath the large orange and smaller chocolate Orlanda goldfish are two separate fairly sizable spider cracks in the enamel. These are located within the green enameling as part of the underwater seaweed.

The good news (if this can be viewed as good news), the spider cracks blend quite well with the underwater seaweed design. Also, there is age-related darkening to the brass rims.

Regardless of the faults mentioned, this vase still beautifully presents itself!
