19TH CENTURY SOLID SILVER & SHIBAYAMA GOLD LACQUER INLAID VASE ENAMEL CLOISONNE. A SILVER AND SHIBAYAMA-INLAID JAPANESE VASE. The silver body inset with two lobed gold-lacquer panels edged in silver, both depicting an exotic bird among an elaborate display of seasonal plants and flowers executed in Shibayama style encrustations, the sides applied with detailed elephants forming the handles, the shoulder, neck and splayed foot embellished with formal floral motifs in coloured enamel, signed on the base within a gold rectangular reserve. Approximately 21cm (8 1/4") high by (4 1/2") wide, by (3 1/4).
