This listing is for a stunning 19th Century Japanese cloisonne on bronze dragon vase with an unusual salmon-peach color enamel background. The 3-toed dragon is predominately a gray enamel color with colorful accents in the face area with the dragon entwined around the entire body of the vase.
Around the top opening and around the base, there is a very detailed colorful border design on a blue ground. The lid that fits the top opening has a slight convex shape and is decorated with butterflies surrounding a flower with foliage. The finial on top is a enamel decorated ceramic bead mounted atop a bronze fluted button. The base is covered with mottled turquoise blue enamel.
Measures 7" high with an overall width of approximately 7 1/2" and base diameter of 2 5/8. This nice vase is in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of wear. There is one tiny dark popped bubble in the enamel background that is very minor, the button finial on top doesn't stand exactly straight and the base is not consistently covered with the application of turquoise enamel, however, this appears to be from production.
