Size: The piece measures 5cm wide x 9cm high. The work closely resembles that produced by the Hayashi Kodenji studios. Condition : The piece has some very minor stress lines to one section of the body, which are only visible under strong light, in certain angles. Comments : A fine Japanese cloisonne vase, dating from the Meiji period.
The vase of baluster form features three exquisitely patterned butterflies, atop a rich cobalt blue tone ground. The decoration is applied using a range of coloured enamels, which have been intricately placed within many hundred individual sculpted and placed solid silver wires.
