Here is a tall and impressive Japanese classic musen shippo (wireless) enamel cloisonné vase decorated with two bands of floral heads. These wireless (musen shippo) vases are very understated and simple and worked in various shades of green enamels.

There are two groups of flower heads that are worked on the opposite sides of the mid-section of the vase. When they first appeared on the market about 20 years ago, they were coming primarily out of Japan and they were very expensive at the time. I vividly remember how happy Iwas to acquire several examples at ridiculously high prices back then. I believe that these vases were made for domestic use in Japan where asmost cloisonne enamels throughout history were made for export.

The background of this vase is finished in a high polish and is in pristine vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips or hairlines or restoration. The only notable item is the wear on both the top and bottom rims that has worn portions of the chrome finish.

If you require a vase that is had mint rims, please wait until another similar example becomes available in the future. Overall, a very refined and high quality cloisonné vase that is in near mint condition marked by the well known Tamura workshop. For an very similar example made by the Tamura workshop, refer to page 59 in Chapter 8, Musen-Jippo, Without wire, wireless enamel and E-Gaki-Jippo painted enamel, in the reference book entitled, Japanese Cloisonne Enamels; A Private Collectors Notes and Reference Guide by Gary Yoshino. Once again, this information is provided as a comparison and this vase is not the one appearing in the reference book. The height of this vase is approximately 9.5 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 6.0 inches. As Japanese cloisonné enamel is very fragile, we will double box and pack this item with tremendous care.
