Here is an elegant Japanese partial musen shippo (wireless) enamel cloisonné vase decorated with three bands of formal floral heads with classic cloud designs. The vase is very understated and simple and worked in various shades of light and dark green enamels that emulate clouds. The highlight of the vase is the balance that was achieved with the cloud formation in standard wires set against the light and green enamel ground.
This vase's dual clouds design is wonderful creative departure from the other familiar wireless vases that have the scrolling peony flower design! The entire vase is finished in a high polish and is in pristine vintage condition without any major faults such as cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration.
This particular vase is fitted with silver rims which is indicative of a custom order or presentation piece. This exact vase is pictured on page 56, in Chapter 8, Musen-Jippo, Without wire, wireless enamel and E-Gaki-Jippo painted enamel, in the reference book entitled, Japanese Cloisonne Enamels; A Private Collectors Notes and Reference Guide by Gary Yoshino. Overall, a very refined and high quality cloisonné vase that is marked by the prestigious Ando workshop. The height of this vase is approximately 9.5 inches. The width of the vase is approximately 4.5 inches.
