Superb Miniature Japanese Cloisonne Enamel Vase Complex Kyoto Shippo Design

  
Here is a classic Japanese cloisonne enamel yusen (standard wire) enamel cloisonne vase with a complex Kyoto shippo design. The highlights of this vase are the alternating phoenix and dragon decorated panels. The neck of the vase is worked with formal geometrical forms. The background of this vase is primarily worked with a wonderful dark chocolate colored brown enamel. The vase is in near mint antique condition; there are a couple of enamel pits that are common to these early examples. There is a tiny, tiny pit that was filled and will most probably be missed by most collectors. While this vase was most probably made between 1890 and 1910 the overall condition is so good that it looks mint!

The height of this vase is just under 5 inches. The width at the widest part of the body is approximately 3 inches.
