Stunning LARGE 19c Japanese Silver Wire Cloisonne Enamel Document Box Rooster. Outstanding old box in the style of Sosuke, very nice enamel color shading and detail cloison work on rooster was clearly done by a master of Japanese cloisonne craftsmanship. Classic, simple Japanese artistry is beautiful.

Box is estimated to be from 19th century, early Meiji Period. Interior and underside in mottled enamel attesting to very old making. These large boxes are hard to come by, simply gorgeous. One of my favorites of my personal collection. LARGE SIZE is approximately 9 3/4 " wide, 7 3/8 deep" and 4 1/8 tall.

Condition is excellent, original as made. No damages or issues I can see. Consistent with very old pieces, some pitting from making is expected.

Pretty much limited to border areas, mentioned for completeness, no impact on display. An absolute gorgeous large box. Lock mechanism professionally removed, so no key. Please check my other auctions.
