Museum Quality JAPANESE MEIJI-ERA Miniature 3 Cloisonne Vase w/ Wisteria Decor. Museum Quality JAPANESE MEIJI-ERA Miniature 3 Cloisonne Vase w/ Wisteria Decor , circa 1870 - 1890. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA.
Up for your consideration is a museum-quality Japanese Meiji-era miniature vase, measuring a just over 3" tall, and 1 1/8" wide. It is 4-sided, and features an extensive Wisteria pattern on a deep blue ground. It is unsigned, and in excellent condition, free of chips, cracks, damage or loss. The rim was originally gilded, and shows surface loss to the finish, but there are no dents or dings.
It is somewhat hard to imagine how fine the actual wire-work is, unless you both view the photographs and imagine it's diminutive size. I have seen about 6 examples of this pattern/maker a few times, with the other vases measuring about 5, so this is the smallest I have seen. This quote is for the Continental U.
