Please see my other pieces of Japanese Cloisonné also listed. A'matched pair' (2 very similar) of MIDDLE PERIOD JAPANESE MEIJI CLOISONNÉ Vases.

RARE & UNUSUAL MATT FINISH. With brass bodies and wires, they both feature differing designs of all-over BUTTERFLY and the abstract shippo (cloisonné)motifs on a MATT, jewel-like turquoise blue ground. Both vases are framed top and base with typical textile patterned diapers. The Middle Period of Japanese cloisonné production is generally considered to be from c. THEY DISPLAY together VERY NICELY. One is in VERY GOOD CONDITION but the other has taken a hit and is missing a large area of enamelling. Measure 14.5cm high x 7 cm wide (max). 410 grams before careful packing.
