Large Mirror Pair Japanese Cloisonne Vases Meiji VGC Goldstone 23.5cm Nice
Here for sale are a great Mirror pair of Antique Japanese Cloisonne enamel vases from the late Meiji Period (1868 -1912). They are beautifully decorated with a profusion of different designs and around the shoulders, within the 3 different panels and between the panels. Goldstone within the panels and on the shoulders highlight the quality of this cloisonné work.
The shoulders have a floral vines with circular mons and the different panels include one with Ho-ho birds, one with butterflies and the third with stylized flowers and patterns. The spaces between the oval panels have some beautiful flower vines on a black background.
The vases are in excellent antique condition. There is one tiny enamel chip just above the butterfly panel on one vase. This can be seen in the photographs. There are a few of the usual tiny pits to the enamel and a couple of cloisons which are not quite filled which is typical of cloisonné of this age. Otherwise, there are no chips, cracks or restoration. The vases stand straight and are stable on their bases which are securely attached. Approximate Dimensions: 9.5 x 4.5 inches or 23.5 x 11 cm.
