"Tree Bark" cloisonne is the common term for Japanese cloisonne enamel work applied to a porcelain base that has a rough, naturalistic texture. MUCH less common than cloisonne on metal.

This lamp, made from an antique tree bark cloisonne base, has a carved stone leaf finial. Japanese tree bark cloisonne tends to be very subtle and shows best in good light, so a lamp is an ideal way to enjoy it. The wiring is old, and I would recommend that it be rewired.
