Attractive mid-century Japanese cloisonne green and yellow vase

  
Very attractive mid-century Japanese cloisonne vase displaying a yellow and white iris flower on an apple green ground. This is a quality piece in excellent condition. There are no chips, splits or cracks and the polish is excellent. The vase is of good size, being 180 mm or 7 inches tall. While the rims may appear to be silver, they are actually chromed metal, which dates this vase to the period 1940 to 70, in my opinion.

The overall technique is semi-wireless cloisonne. There are very few wires and they are extremely fine. While made of a shiny white metal, they are not silver. The iris is beautifully rendered, in semi-wireless technique. Note the colours in the petals that are well within the cloisonns as well as some very even shading within the cloissons.

The apple green ground is also beautifully even-toned. The only tiny problem is that the top rim has a little discolouration from exposure to dust and the like, which can be seen in one photo.

This is not unusual for a piece of this age. While of excellent quality, sadly this piece is unsigned.
